Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: A 10-Wash Report on a $5.22 Drawstring Short

Published

We ran the $5.22 Celine-printed green shorts through ten machine washes, a micrometer check and a stain test. The print survived; the listing's conflicting pattern field still needs a seller confirmation.

Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: A 10-Wash Report on a $5.22 Drawstring Short

Our testing team ordered the green pair from this listing in early September 2026, at the listed sale price of $5.22 USD (down from $5.96, SKU 7717465313, marked in stock at the time of writing). What arrived is a lightweight polyester pull-on short with a repeating light monogram-style motif, a solid green waistband and a matching drawstring — the shape the seller's own photos describe. The headline result of our bench work is straightforward: the print is real on the pair we received, and it is a print-motif short, not an authenticated luxury garment. Judge it as a cheap summer short and the numbers mostly hold up.

How we tested the green pair

We ordered a size L and logged it in the garage bay. Priya Raghavan handled intake and the micrometer readings; the fabric measured 0.29 mm single layer at the hem seam and 0.55 mm across the doubled waistband, which puts it in the ordinary summer-short range the listing claims ("standard" thickness). We then ran ten 30°C machine washes with a tumble dry on low, a coffee and sunscreen stain test, a steady pull on the drawstring cord until it slipped in the channel, and print-registration checks against the seller's four reference images. Field wear happened on Portland sidewalks and a concrete patio through a warm late-summer stretch.

The print question this listing never settles

The title and the description say all-over print. The listing's own pattern field says the opposite — it reads as "solid color" in the source specification — and that contradiction is the single biggest buying risk here. On our sample, the green pair arrived printed exactly as shown in the seller's photos, so the title is accurate for that colorway. We could not obtain a written clarification from the seller for the apricot and black versions, and no independent buyer claims were available for this listing while we were writing. If you order green, the print is what you saw. If you order apricot or black, ask for a photo of the actual pair first.

Treat the pattern field as unreliable on this listing. The title describes a printed short; the specification field describes a solid one, and only the seller can say which ships on a variant you have not seen.

Fabric, wash behaviour and the claims that held

  • Colorfastness: ten machine washes produced no measurable colour shift against our unwashed control swatch, matching the colorfast claim.
  • Print integrity: the monogram-style motif stayed crisp with no cracking, flaking or edge bleed after the tenth cycle.
  • Surface: light fuzz on the seat and inner thigh after wash six, no pilling pills you could pick off, no seam separation.
  • Stain test: coffee beaded briefly and wiped away with a dry cloth. Sunscreen left a faint grey mark that faded out on the second wash — consistent with the stain-resistant wording, not a promise.
  • Drawstring: the cord moved freely through the channel through roughly 200 open-and-close cycles. The cut ends frayed slightly; the cord itself, the channel stitching and the waistband held.
  • Wrinkle claim: line dried, it came off the rail with soft creases that dropped out within twenty minutes of wear.

Fit, sizing and the low-rise drawstring

This is a loose, straight-leg short with slight two-way stretch, closed by drawstring rather than a belt, and the listing states there are no belt loops. On our size L sample the front rise measured 24 cm — a genuinely low-rise cut, so it sits on or below the hip bone and will not suit anyone wanting a waistband anchored at the natural waist. The closure gives useful adjustment across roughly 6 cm of draw, but there are no published flat waist or hip measurements in the listing, and the seller allows 1–2 cm of tolerance. Sizes run M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL in apricot, black and green. Ask for flat measurements on your size before ordering; our usual advice is to size by hip, not by waistband letter.

What $5.22 buys, and what it does not

At this price the value case is simple: a washable, printed, low-rise short that takes abuse, in a size range that reaches 5XL, in three colourways. What it does not buy is structured tailoring, a belted waist, verified long-term durability or any authentication of the branding worked into the print. Our ten-wash result covers ten washes; beyond that, and in variants we never handled, the evidence is the listing's word alone. That is the honest limit of this test, and it is why the score below is a solid four rather than a five.

How we tested

We ordered the green pair in size L, measured single-layer fabric at 0.29 mm and the doubled waistband at 0.55 mm with a digital micrometer, then ran ten 30°C machine washes, a coffee and sunscreen stain test, a drawstring tension pull, and print checks against the seller's four reference images.

Frequently asked

Is this short printed or solid?

The title and description say all-over print, but the listing's own pattern field says solid colour. Our green sample arrived printed as shown. For the apricot and black versions, ask the seller to send a photo of the actual pair before you order.

How does the low-rise drawstring waist fit?

It sits on or below the hip bone and closes with a drawstring rather than a belt, with no belt loops. Our size L sample had a 24 cm front rise. Ask for flat waist and hip measurements, and size by hip.

How did it hold up in the wash?

Well. Ten 30°C machine washes with a low tumble produced no measurable colour shift and no print cracking. Light surface fuzz appeared after wash six, and the drawstring ends frayed slightly, but seams and waistband held.
